What is this?
An open group of community members, artists and arts organization professionals have been meeting since October 2004 in Eugene, Oregon, under the title "Creative Conversations"
What began as an Americans for the Arts initiative has transformed into a local, grassroots-driven effort to begin conversations about what a thriving Eugene arts community will look like, and what steps are needed to make that happen.
The goal for the May 15 meeting was to address the questions:
| What should be the City of Eugene's priorities for the arts community? |
and
| What policy/vision/mission can the arts community develop to advocate to the city to direct policy and funding priorities in support of arts and culture in Eugene? |
We soon decided that the second question was the place to start. The main page of this wiki captures the ideas from our world-cafe table discussions on the question.
One of the suggestions was that the development of this statement could be carried out collaboratively, in part online, via a wiki. Let's try it!
How can I participate?
- Please say who you are when logging in, so that we can see each other's contributions and edits.
- You can directly edit any page.
- You can view the site history to see the changes and edits others have made.
- You can click "comment" to add your comment(s) to any page.
- You can create a new page with a new version of the statement (or anything else).
- You could create a series of pages, one for each of the broad thematic areas that we * identified, and start working on which priorities are most important to each area.
- These are just suggestions.
